At its 2018 General Assembly, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) presented the "Against All Odds Award" to the City of San Fernando for successfully adopting the Corridors Specific Plan. Patrick Siegman is honored to have been part of the Sargent Town Planning team that prepared the plan and helped the City bring it to a successful conclusion.
According to the SCAG announcement “The Corridors Specific Plan fosters sustainable development patterns, and encourages public transit, walking and biking within the downtown area and the surrounding neighborhood. San Fernando overcame multiple challenges in reaching successful adoption of the Plan including community push-back, budgetary constraints, a staffing shortage, regulatory constraints and difficulties that come with being an economically-disadvantaged community.”
Our team drafted the plan and built a consensus for it over the course of an almost four-year long public process, ending with the City Council's enthusiastic adoption of the Plan in late 2017.
